Virtual Therapy in Ontario
The right therapist matters more than the right postal code.
Maybe you’re hours from Ottawa. Maybe you’re twenty minutes away with no childcare, no parking patience, or no energy left after work. Virtual therapy brings the session to wherever you are in Ontario, with the same structure, pacing, and care as sitting across from us in Hintonburg.
Hintonburg to anywhere in Ontario or Quebec.
Who virtual therapy works well for
- You live anywhere in Ontario outside Ottawa, from Kingston to Kenora.
- Your schedule, commute, health, or caregiving makes weekly travel unrealistic.
- Home is genuinely where your nervous system settles best.
- You started in person and want continuity through travel, a move, or a busy season.
- Privacy matters: no waiting room, no chance of running into someone you know.
Does online therapy actually work?
For most people and most concerns, yes. Research comparing video-delivered therapy with in-person therapy has generally found comparable outcomes, including for anxiety and depression. What matters most is the same thing that matters in person: the fit between you and your therapist, and a consistent, paced approach.
Some people assume the screen makes therapy shallower. In practice, many clients go deeper at home: you’re in your own space, your guard is already half down, and the skills you build are learned in the exact environment where you’ll use them.
What we offer virtually
Everything we do in person, by secure video:
- EMDR. Bilateral stimulation adapts well to video, with the same safety-first preparation and pacing.
- Somatic therapy. Your nervous system is wherever you are; tracking sensation and building regulation skills works on camera.
- Parts work (IFS). Quiet, internal-focused work that many clients find easier from home.
- Anxiety therapy. CBT, somatic regulation, and trauma-focused work for the mind that won’t quiet down.
- Couples counselling. Both partners on one screen or two, wherever your evenings actually happen.

Where virtual sessions are available
Virtual sessions with Masood are available to clients located in Ontario or Quebec. He is a Registered Psychotherapist with CRPO in Ontario and runs every session from Ontario; Quebec clients are seen under his Ontario (CRPO) registration, which means CRPO is the college that governs the work and handles any concerns, and he confirms this with you before you begin. Sessions with Maiah are available to clients across Ontario.
In-person sessions happen only at the Hintonburg office in Ottawa. If you’re located outside Ontario and Quebec at session time, even on vacation, we may need to reschedule, and if you’re relocating out of those provinces we’ll help you plan a transition to local care.
Questions people ask about virtual therapy
Is virtual therapy as effective as in person?
For most concerns, research has found video-delivered therapy produces comparable outcomes to in-person care, including for anxiety and depression. Fit and consistency matter more than the room you’re in. Some deeper trauma work benefits from in-person sessions; if that’s true for you, we’ll say so plainly and plan around it.
Can EMDR really be done online?
Yes. Bilateral stimulation adapts to video (visual and audio options), and the preparation, pacing, and safety practices are identical. We make sure your grounding skills are solid before any processing, exactly as we would in the office.
What do I need technically?
A device with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a private space. The video link arrives with your appointment reminder through Jane, our booking platform.
Is it private?
Sessions are one-on-one video through Jane’s secure telehealth system; nothing is recorded. On your end, privacy is about the room you choose; headphones and a closed door (or a parked car) cover most situations.
Do you see virtual clients outside Ottawa?
Yes. Masood sees virtual clients located anywhere in Ontario or Quebec; Maiah sees virtual clients across Ontario. In-person sessions are available at 9 Melrose Ave in Hintonburg, Ottawa, and many clients mix both: in person when they can, video when life happens.
