Privacy Policy

Ripple Effect Counselling and Psychotherapy is committed to protecting your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal health information in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) standards.

What information we collect

When you contact us or book a therapy appointment, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Home address (if provided)
  • Other relevant information required for assessment and treatment

This information is collected solely for the purposes of coordinating care, providing psychotherapy services, and maintaining accurate client records.

How your information is used

We use your information to:

  • Book and manage appointments
  • Send session reminders and confirmations
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Maintain secure and confidential clinical records
  • Communicate with you as needed regarding your care

We do not sell or distribute your personal information. Your information will only be disclosed to third parties with your written consent, or as required by law (for example, to prevent harm, comply with legal obligations, or respond to a court order).

Your choice about website analytics

You can use this website and follow its booking links without allowing Google Analytics. Analytics stays off until you choose Allow analytics. To decline, choose Continue without analytics.

If you allow it, Google Analytics helps me understand visits to the practice’s public pages, time spent on the site, scrolling and selected contact or booking-link clicks. It also records visits to the contact form’s success page. These counts do not confirm that a message was delivered or an appointment was booked.

Analytics uses cookies and identifiers that can recognise your browser across visits. It receives the approved public page address, limited referral information, language and session information. Google also processes the connection information needed to receive these requests and provides country or region information. This information is not anonymous; the pages you visit may show an interest in particular therapy topics.

The website limits the page and link information used for Analytics. Automatic search-term, form-interaction, video and download tracking are disabled. City-level and detailed-device collection, Google signals and advertising personalization are also disabled. Advertising attribution is limited. Your Analytics choice does not control information you choose to submit through a contact form or booking service.

You can withdraw by opening Analytics settings and choosing Continue without analytics. This stops future website Analytics requests, including requests waiting to be sent by the tested website integration. It does not undo a request already sent or delete information already held by Google. Browser restrictions can prevent a choice from being saved or shared with another open tab. If that happens, you may need to decline again in other tabs or on a later visit. Clearing browser storage can also remove your saved choice.

The practice’s Google Analytics integration on Jane is paused. Booking through Jane remains available. Website Analytics may count your click to Jane, but it is not used to follow your booking activity there. Jane handles the information needed for its booking service separately. The website’s Analytics control does not manage Jane’s service or another provider’s website.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Confidentiality and data security

All records are stored securely in accordance with CRPO and PHIPA guidelines. Reasonable safeguards are in place to protect your personal health information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.

Confidentiality is maintained in all cases, except where there is a legal or ethical obligation to disclose information, such as when there is risk of harm to yourself or others.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal health information
  • Request corrections to inaccurate information
  • Withdraw or modify consent (subject to legal limitations)
  • Ask questions or file a complaint about how your information is handled
